The video to the right has been
produced by the BBC and is
about the European Water Vole.
I currently volunteer for the
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust on a
project to enhance and preserve
the Water Vole in an area of West
Yorkshire.
It is very interesting to learn what
to look for and then to recognise
the signs of recent activity. The
surprise when one leaps into the
water in front of you and swims
away still makes me jump with
pleasure.
We have spent the last year doing
surveys and generally improving
the environment for the Water
Vole where possible by ground
and ditch clearance and tree
coppicing where they are
overhanging the water course.
I often write up in my blog about
our work days and of course any
sightings hopefully with
photographs.
The video below is a classic Bill Oddie piece about the Blue Tit
I love to see the Blue Tits in our
garden, they eat off our hanging
feeders and also from the caged
ground feeder, vying with the
Great Tits for the tastiest morsel!
